Recently I have started helping a few NonProfit organisations to better set up their systems in Monday.com.
Some of those NonProfits are already firmly committed to using Monday.com moving forward, but some of them are just starting the process of choosing the best SaaS tools to better manage their NonProfit and are overwhelmed by all the tools and features out there.
In order to help NonProfits who are considering the Monday.com NonProfit plan as an option for their organisation, I decided to collate relevant information about not just Monday.com but other top NonProfit CRMs and Donor Management Tools and publish this Blog Post in an attempt to make the decision-making process easier.
But first, a couple of important notes and disclaimers...
Disclaimer
I am new to this whole NonProfit thing
As well as running the free MondayWiki Community, I am also a Monday.com consultant and coach. So, I do know a fair bit about the Monday.com products (mostly Monday Work Management and Monday CRM).
However, I have yet to use the Monday NonProfit Plan and most notably the Monday.com Fundraising App which is only available to Monday NonProfit Plan users. With a bit of luck, I will have the opportunity to test that app through one of my clients or community members soon (and when I do, I will update this blog post).
It's also important to mention that as I am new to the whole NonProfit thing I do have a lot to learn about the way most NonProfits work, their typical needs etc. Again, I am hoping to improve my knowledge on this front soon.
Finally, I must stress that I haven't used the tools reviewed in this blog post, merely collated a large variety of online reviews and other web pages and summarised the information to make your research process (hopefully) faster and easier.
I believe there is no SaaS tool that is right for everyone. Including Monday.
Although I am a Monday.com consultant and coach and run a community related to Monday.com, I am not about to recommend Monday.com to anyone if I feel that it's not right for them.
Now, Monday and it's various products are almost infinitely customisable, so in theory it is possible to make it work for almost any organisation in almost any way they need. But that still doesn't mean there might not be a better option out there for your NonProfit.
Rest assured that my intent here is not to promote Monday.com over and above all the other options, merely to compare Monday to the other most popular NonProfit SaaS tools available today.
What are the top 10 most popular SaaS tools for NonProfits?
According to my research, the following apps are the 10 most popular CRMs and Donor Management tools for NonProfits.
Notes
These apps aren't all of the same type. Eg some (like SalesForce) are basically CRMs, some (like DonorPerfect) are donor management tools and some (like Quickbooks and Mailchimp) are in categories all their own (accounting and email marketing).
Kindful has been acquired by Bloomerang and the two apps appear now to be one.
- Monday.com NonProfit Plan
- DonorPerfect
- Bloomerang
- Network for Good
- GiveButter
- Network for Good
- Keela
- Wild Apricot
- Hubspot CRM
- Salesforce for Nonprofits
These tools typically assist with donor management, fundraising, project management, and communication.

Note
I have used Hubspot before (although not the NonProfit Plan) and will provide some personal input for this reason.
In general, Hubspot is a fully-featured and very well-rounded CRM but it is not as customisable as many and the jump from their free plan to their cheapest paid plan is pretty big, but the jump from the basic paid plan to the next tier up is astronomical in price.

Conclusion
I'm now going to summarise all the above information in my own words, primarily comparing the Monday.com NonProfit Plan against the rest. I'm not focusing on Monday to try to convince you it's the best option, I'm taking this approach because I know Monday well whereas with the other tools listed here I have either never actually used them myself or I have very limited experience.
Monday.com is the only product listed here that has a free option (and a great free option I might add) so it's definitely budget friendly.
And Monday is a hugely customisable platform that includes multiple products and offers free Templates and Workspace Templates (AKA "Monday Spaces") both NonProfit specific and more general.
I think the learning curve with Monday is likely to be similar to most of the platforms here however, because Monday is such a customisable platform and isn't really an "out-of-the-box" solution, getting it set up to suit your organisation can be extremely time-consuming, especially if you DIY it.
However, you can always start simple to keep set up and learning time to a minimum and add to your systems gradually over time.
Also, you will want to add integrations to third party tools (eg Mailchimp for email marketing) to enable more features and those third party tools, depending upon your needs might incur additional costs.
At the end of the day, Monday's ability to manage and even automate any process or workflow you can think of makes it not only super powerful but also unique. I would strongly recommend it as an option to any NonProfit looking for better SaaS tools to manage their organisation. But I would also strongly recommend that you hire a pro to help speed up the setup process and ensure you don't build systems that will hamstring you down the road.
